Individual Performance is not about Performance Management
The HRM Function tends to rely on the results of the Performance Management, mainly of the Performance Appraisals. The real results of the Performance Appraisals are not connected with the real business performance of the organization.
The managers are clever and the employees are clever as well. Both parties can recognize the benefits of overshooting the performance results for their own comfortable life. In the organization, where the performance appraisals are not centrally managed, the performance management results can be different from the real results hugely.
The HRM Function has to be recognized enough to drive the performance management in the organization. The real benefits of the fair performance management result in the transparent organization, where the employees can clearly see the expectations and their own career development opportunities.
But in the reality - the Performance Appraisals are more a formal process, which has to be done, but the real impact is pretty low on the life of the employee in the organization.
