HRM Change Agent

HRM Change Agent is one of key HR Roles defined by Mr. Ulrich. The Change Agent role is not easy as it makes the HRM responsible for the smooth transition in the people area during large changes in the organization.

The Change Agent is not just responsible for smooth transitions during the changes, the Change Agent should also propose changes to the top management based on best practices known from the market.

The role of the Change Agent is very serious and the HRM Function has to be able to build coalition for the changes in the organization. The change agent is always in the dangerous position in the organization and the buy-in from the management is essential.

The Change Agent has to use the knowledge of the employees and common change management techniques to minimize the costs of the transition. The HRM Function has to identify the potential dangerous groups of employees and the initiatives to make them more happy and stable during the change.

The top management asks the HRM Function to support the change initiatives in the organization and the HRM Function can bring a deep knowledge of the employees and their interests. As the project team knows about the interests of the employees, the initiatives can be adjusted to make the employees feel more comfortable with the changes to occur.

The change agent also monitors the health of the organization and provides the top management with the potential initiatives to improve the overall health of the organization. The change agent is not in the organization to hide the information, the change agent has to inform all the involved parties about the development and potential impact on employees.
