Recruitment Agency Staffing Plan

The new recruitment agency needs proper staffing plan to ensure the recruitment agency starts to generate the business results as soon as possible after its setup.

Many recruitment agencies start as one-man show. The owner just tries the potential success on the market. This is suitable form of the new start up for the head hunting or executive search companies. They have to serve very limited number of client and job positions. The owner has to develop existing business relationship and get some positions from the clients he or she personally knows. The business grows gradually and the executive search organization can focus on its own development in the next stage when some cash flows get generated.

The regular recruitment agency needs to include the staffing plan into its business plan, as the salaries of the new staff and expenses to get them on the board can be very significant cost to the organization.

The recruitment agency cannot exist without the staff on the board and the decision about the proper recruitment has to be made before setting up the agency.
The recruitment agency usually needs three basic kinds of employees:

  • Sales Staff
  • Recruitment Consultants
  • Back Office Staff

The Sales staff is focused on new business development and their task is the heaviest in the beginning of the operation of the new recruitment agency. They have to find clients and make them to cooperate with the new recruitment agency. The bring a lot of contacts and promises from the market and they need to cooperate closely with Recruitment Consultants.

The Recruitment Consultants are the heart of the recruitment agency. They conduct the job interviews with the potential candidates and they communicate with the client to clarify their requests. The Recruitment Consultants are key employees to make the new recruitment agency successful on the market as the clients can quickly leave the new recruitment agency when it is not meeting the promises done by the Sales Staff.

The Back Office Staff helps to the Recruitment Consultants with the administrative tasks like the job posting of the position, logistics and the communication with the clients to make the recruitment process running smoothly. The Back Office Staff is the point of the increased service level seen by the clients and they can put a big value on this.

The Staffing Plan for the Recruitment Agency should cover all the areas as the tasks are pretty difficult and one single person cannot do them. Usually, a really good Recruitment Consultant is not a good salesperson able to find the real competitive advantage of the new recruitment agency on the market.

The Staffing Plan has to be prepared very carefully as the costs resulting from the new employees can be the biggest part of the expenses of the new recruitment agency in the first stage of its existence.
