HRM Employees and HR Reporting

The HR Employees are known, that they are not able to count. They are strongly focused on soft skills and softer part of the job and they are not able to count people in the single department.

Generally, this can be true, but it is very dangerous for the HRM Function, mainly in the recession. HR Professionals have to understand to the basics of the economy and they have to understand the products and services the organization offers.

The top management will always listen to Finance guys as they bring the information they like. They bring numbers and they are able to explain the numbers and they show the trends.

The HR Professionals have to get a lesson from the Finance guys. The Finance guys are able to find the interesting numbers and they can find a lot of hypotheses and they can show the trend of the business in the future.

The presentations from the HRM Function are always full of emotions. The presentations are not about the numbers, trends, but they can have a lot of interesting ideas inside.

The HR Professionals have to learn the secret of the data mining and data combining. The HR Professionals want to have a good HRIS, but when they a good system in place, they do not collect enough data about employees and they do not make analyses of the data available.
The HR Professionals have to gather information from the business and they have to apply the statistical approaches. The correlations have to be found and presented to the top management.

The Finance guys can learn the HR Professionals a lot. Before they start to collect the data, they always provide the rest of the organization with the proper and exact definition of data and they always check the data before producing a report.

The HRM Function has to analyze its HR Processes to find the data and the measures have to be defined for the most critical HR Processes. When the definitions are done, the team can focus on the data collection and the HRM Function can present its reports and analyses to the management and staff.
