The recession or the economic crisis is a hot topic. There are conferences about the HRM and the Recession all around the World. But, the HRM Function cannot just focus on the current recession, but the most important topic is the world after the recession.
As the current recession seems to be one of the hugest recessions ever, it will definitely change the way the HRM Function works. The HRM Function will have to be more efficient and focused on the strict cost control.
The current HRM Function was usually concerned on the overall employee satisfaction and protection of the key employees and top talents against the competitors. But, the change will come.
The main changes in the area of Human Resources will affect almost all the HR Processes, but some of the process will change dramatically. The main affected HR Processes are the following:
- Recruitment process will change dramatically. The current recruitment and staffing was focused on finding the potential on the job market. The future challenge will be about finding them cheaply, without recruitment agencies. The recruitment agencies will suffer and they will have to provide some kind of the new Web 3.0 approach.
- Compensation and Benefits will be focused again. The compensation will not be focused on the overall satisfaction, but the normal distribution will be introduced and forced again. Today, the organizations spent a lot of money for the employees with no special contribution to the organization and this will be definitely changed.
- Training and Development will follow the compensation and benefits. As the organization will focus just on its top talents, the training and development will invest most of its resources just into this one group of employees.
The world after the recession will be different. The companies will be focused on its operational costs and the HRM Function will have to strictly redefine its target groups.
