The HR Project Management is different from the process or system oriented projects. The HR Projects are about real human beings, impacting their level of satisfaction, motivation and thus business results of the whole company. The HR Project Communication Plans are essential basis for the success of the HR Projects and they are the biggest risk of the HR Projects as well.
As the HR Projects are about employees generally, the pre-project preparation phase is very important. The project team has to allocate enough time to settle all the exceptions in the organization.
The project work goes quickly till the moment, when the decision about the exception has to be made. The time allocated to the handling of all the exception in the HR Policies has to planned comfortably as all the parts involved in the finding and approving the solution feel their personal comfort to have enough time to make a final decision and communication towards affected employees.
The project team has to plan the project plan very carefully and the check questions have to be made after each step. The most important issue is to identify all the exceptions needed to be handled in advance before the real communication of the project work starts to employees.
The HR Project Communication is very sensitive and all employees have to be informed about potential changes in the life in the organization, even the project team believes there will be no major issue for the employees. Even the positive changes have to be announced carefully as the employees do not believe to HRM Function usually and they need some time to make their personal check.
The exceptions have to be handled very carefully as the exceptions are made usually for top performers and key players in the company and any negative change in their business life can have immediate negative impact on the company results and this can be very dangerous for the whole HR Project Team.
The HR Project Team has to be clever not to be caught in the communication trap, when everyone expects a quick and ideal solution for each individual exception in the organization quickly. The managers and the project team have to find their own solution for each affected employee.
The HR Project Team has to make sure, there is enough space in the project plan for the communication as the project is not lost on its way to the successful finish of the whole project activity.
