Act as a Leader not a supervising Manager

Each manager loves to be seen as a leader. The leader is something extra, with a lot of the extra cash in the pocket. That is true, but not every manager can be a leader. Smart and empty sentences told during the presentations are not enough to become a real leader.

The leader brings the vision to the company, which unifies employees around it. The employees do not work for the HRM, Finance or Call Center; they work for the company and the vision. The leader saves huge money to the company as the vision makes people to do necessary things on their own. The employees start to think different way as they want to see the success at the end of the road and they adjust their work and behavior to the vision.

The advantage of the leadership is a common vision behind the goals, strategies and daily tasks. The employees have a chance to understand the vision of the leader, to make a mutual agreement to reach the vision and to follow the leader during the way forward. They do not need detailed tasks lists; they can prepare them on their own.

The leader does not have to supervise the employees and managers. They present their goals and alignment with the vision on their own. The supervising manager needs regular meetings with the employees to know the current status of all tasks. The supervising manager usually does not communicate his or her vision to employees or the vision is not sexy enough to attract employees to follow the formulated vision.

The supervising manager usually thinks, he is an excellent leader and this is very dangerous. The manager can think all the employees follow the vision, but they do not understand how or they do not understand why they should follow the vision.

The manager needs feedback and leadership development to evolve into the real leader, but the luckiness of being a leader is just for few selected ones.
