HR Organization Design

The HR Organizational Design is one of the most important and difficult tasks of the HRM Management Team. The design of the HR Organization is important for the correct operation of the HR Processes and for the correct balance of the workload in different HR Units.

The HR Organizational Design is about a very detailed analysis of tasks and initiatives requested by the top management of the organization. The requests of the top management and the HR Strategy should be the basis for the design of the HR Organization.

The management team has to decide about the expected workload and the expected HR Projects to be executed in the timeframe for the designed HR Organizational Structure. The management team needs to define the basic roles and responsibilities of the HR organizational units.

Each HR Manager needs to elaborate the defined high-level roles and responsibilities of the HR units into individual job profiles to define the need of the resources in each HR department. This is very responsible part of the design of the HR Organization as every HR Manager will have to fight for the FTE allocation to the unit and the manager has to be prepared very well.

The HR Management Team should also define some FTEs for the Project Management as the need to execute initiatives needs fully dedicated employees and the other HR Staff can contribute to the effort.

The HR Organization Design is complicated task, which needs a lot of effort and time and the result is very important base for the successful HRM Function.
